KP Law Minister Israrullah Gandapur killed in suicide attack


DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Minister, Israrullah Gandapur and eight others were killed when a suicide bomber struck at his residence on Wednesday.

Police said 20 others were injured in the attack. The injured were shifted to the Kolachi Tehsil hospital, while those in critical condition were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

The suicide bomber entered the residence of Gandapur in the Kolachi area after killing the policemen deployed outside and detonated his explosive-rigged vest. The minister was greeting people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha when the bomber struck.

Speaking to senior journalist Saleem Safi, the brother of Gandapur confirmed that the provincial minister had been killed in the attack.

Israrullah Gandapur was elected from PK-67 (DI Khan IV) as an independent candidate during the 2013 general elections and later joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Manmoon Hussain, PTI chairman Imran Khan and ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan condemned the attack. Imran Khan directed the provincial government to launch an investigation and take action against those involved.

Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has summoned a report from IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
