New Delhi: An Indian Newspaper has revealed that former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi ordered the gold hunt on the information provided by the then Pakistani Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1976, say media reports.
According to media reports Indira Gandhi ordered Indian Army to search the hidden gold treasure in Jaipur State after receiving a letter from his Pakistani counterpart.
Ex-Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had the information about the existence of a big gold treasure in Jaipur which was the ownership of the Royal family of Jaipur at the time of partition of Sub-Continent.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto shared this information with Indira Gandhi on August 11, 1976 and sent her a letter regarding this secret wealth.
Indira Gandhi did not reply to this letter till September, however, she ordered an Army Unit to be sent to Jaipur to search this hidden gold. After three months, while replying to Bhutto’s letter, she said that his claim was not based on facts.
