Muhajir Republican Army has no connection with MQM: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Thursday that the government would consult the military and political parties over talks with the Taliban.

Addressing on the floor of the National Assembly, Nisar said the All Parties Conference had empowered the government to hold talks and this would require time. Nisar did acknowledge that the process had been hampered following the attack in Upper Dir in which Pakistan army officials including two senior officers were killed.

According to Nisar the operation in Karachi was started on the behest of the federal government who was also responsible for its coordination and monitoring. He added that consultations with the provincial government, MQM and other parties were being held on a daily basis.

“The Rangers have conducted 400 and police over one thousand operations in Karachi. 250 target killers have fled from Karachi to North Waziristan.”

The minister also informed the National Assembly that the Muhajir Republican Army had no connection with the MQM.
